RethinkRethink is a biblically based, Holy Spirit led initiative that assists Christians towards a renewed mind and Godly thinking processes.
It examines and explores the influences that play a strategical part in forming our thoughts and highlights the dangers of not challenging those influences in a Godly way. Rethink has developed a number of simple but effective tools that help Christians challenge ungodly influences and the integrity of their thoughts. By recognising, understanding, confronting and managing these influences we no longer give them permission to manipulate our decisions that are so often characterised by poor choices and a failure to deal appropriately with temptation and everyday life issues. The Holy Spirit plays a crucial part in this challenge as he reveals truth, the source of untruth and guides us towards Godly responses. Below are several short examples of food for thought just to build up an appetite. |
Thoughts... Play a vital role in the development of our actions.

It's all about identity.
From the moment a person turns to Jesus the Holy Spirit begins his commissioned work to bring about Christ's mind and identity into that persons life. Romans 8:29, 1 Cor 2:16.
This is a serious problem for Satan: because it brings the believer into line with God's heart and purposes, and it reminds Satan how he lost his own identity when he rebelled against God. He will never be in a position of having an identity that has Godly authority or recognition. Something his pride struggles to handle. This teaching explores how a Christian's identity in Christ is targeted in order to devalue Christ's image in us, and to make the Christian ineffective in his walk with God. Spiritual or emotional battleground

Ephesians 1 tells us exactly where the Christian has been blessed, 'with every spiritual blessing,' in Christ: ' in the heavenly places.' Therefore, the Christian's spiritual battleground is, and should be, in the heavenly places. Yet, the most common reason why Christians are defeated in their life is because they exchange the spiritual battleground for an emotional battleground which is a soulish response to spiritual issues. Doing battle on an emotional battleground will nearly always end in defeat for the Christian. Spiritual forces cannot recognise God's full authority in our emotions, because he operates through the Spirit in heavenly places. This teaching discusses and explores why Christians so easily turn to their emotions to help them make decisions and why operating in their spirit is so difficult for them. |
Bringing your past into your present.A common oversight which prevents new Christians, and 'mature' Christians alike, operating out of a renewed mind, is for them to rely on their past way of thinking: to let it go unchallenged and unchanged in their new life in Christ. As a result, they can face many years, or even a lifetime, struggling with a life outside a spiritual mind-set. It is unreasonable to expect new believers to even know about this, let alone understand it. The responsibility lies with the leadership and mature Christians to lead the way in teaching about this problem.Up to the point of conversion, people have lived their lives out of the soul from birth, and without teaching input on this, many young Christians will never experience what it is to live with a renewed mind, and therefore a transformed life.
Rethink can help identify these issues. We can also offer training, mentoring and coaching to help resolve them. |
